From an early age, Basile displayed a natural talent for art, excelling in drawing during his school years. His interest in ceramics began to take shape at the State Institute of Art and later at the Academy of Fine Arts in Lecce, where he developed a passion for painting under the mentorship of Professor Spanó.
His artistic journey led him to cities such as Barcelona and Granada, where he expanded his creative vision. In Granada, he rediscovered ceramics, influenced by the Nasrid tradition, while in Zahara de los Atunes, he found inspiration in the creative recycling of materials, such as driftwood from boats.
In 2016, he founded his studio, "Sotto Scala," which has since evolved into Sotto Scala 3.0—a space where painting, ceramics, and sculpture converge. His work, deeply inspired by his surroundings and emotions, reflects an inexhaustible passion for art. As Pablo Picasso once said: "Inspiration exists, but it has to find you working."
