Biography & Artistic Trajectory

Iker Muro Uranga (born 1979), internationally recognized by the artistic moniker Mur0ne, is an acclaimed Spanish muralist, illustrator, and graphic designer. Having cultivated his artistic voice through a self-taught, experimental trajectory, Muro evolved from graphic design and street graffiti into large-scale contemporary muralism. In 2002, he began taking his visual language directly to public walls, forging what he famously describes as 'an acidic blend of pop culture, graffiti, illustration, and graphic design.'

His work is characterized by a masterful synergy between abstract geometric precision, vivid chromatic saturation, and psychedelic figurative imagery. Grounded in a strong background in graphic design and typography, Muro transforms public infrastructure into colossal, immersive environments. From monumental multistory murals and transit tunnels to painted sports courts, bleachers, and ceilings, his bold primary palettes and dynamic compositional rhythms establish him as a leading figure in contemporary immersive public art.

Beyond his studio and wall practice, Muro has played a vital role in urban cultural revitalization as founder and director of the acclaimed “Sumérgete” mural project (2014–2024), curating major international artists to transform public urban spaces into an open-air museum. His extensive international travels continuously nourish his practice, drawing visual energy, site-specific patterns, and structural rhythms from every metropolis he engages with.

“Everything takes place within a process that, if experienced from within, feels far beyond one's control. In the struggle against doubt and frustration, only on rare occasions does that gift emerge from some distant point between magic and serendipity. It neither asks nor seeks our opinion; it follows its own natural, instinctive course until it comes into being.

Just as a drop of water moistens a lemon seed without dictating what it should become, my only concern is to ensure that drop falls, letting perseverance guide me toward finding that spontaneous gift. It could not be any other way.”
